1. Purpose and Scope of This Website
This website has been prepared and published by Assoc. Prof. Oğuz Baran for general information only. All of the text, images, video, tables and other material on the site is intended to contribute to public understanding, at a general level, of the conditions, diagnostic methods and treatment options in neurosurgery.
The content serves no purpose of advertising, promotion, solicitation, referral or patient recruitment. It has been prepared with regard to the limits on information-giving laid down in Law No. 1219 on the Practice of Medicine and Its Branches, the Regulation on Medical Deontology, the Regulation on the Promotion and Provision of Information Concerning Health Services, and the relevant rules of the Turkish Medical Association.
2. No Physician–Patient Relationship Arises
Visiting this site, reading its content, completing the contact form, submitting imaging studies or communicating through the site in any other way does not create a physician–patient relationship between the visitor and Assoc. Prof. Oğuz Baran, does not mean that such a relationship has been established, and gives rise to no obligation of treatment on the part of either party.
A physician–patient relationship arises only after an examination conducted in person and in the proper manner, the taking of the patient history, the performance of a neurological examination and the assessment of the necessary investigations.
3. This Is Not Medical Advice
The information on this site does not constitute medical advice, a diagnosis, a recommendation for treatment, a second opinion or a consultation, and under no circumstances does it replace examination by a physician, clinical assessment or professional health care.
On the basis of this material, it is strongly discouraged to:
- begin any course of drug therapy;
- alter the dose of medication being taken, or discontinue it;
- end or postpone an existing course of treatment;
- arrive at a self-diagnosis or select a method of treatment;
- delay consulting a physician.
Before taking any decision concerning your health, please attend a health-care institution and consult your physician.
4. Emergencies
This site does not provide emergency health care and is not a channel for emergencies. In the presence of a sudden severe headache, alteration of consciousness, seizures, paralysis, disturbance of speech, loss of vision, trauma or similar emergency findings, do not use this site: call the 112 emergency call center without delay, or attend the nearest emergency department.
5. Individual Variation and the Absence of Any Guarantee of Outcome
In medicine every patient and every case is unique. The symptoms, course, treatment options, recovery times and possible outcomes of the conditions described on this site vary considerably from one person to another according to the patient’s age, comorbidities, the site and size of the lesion, the general condition of the patient and many other factors.
No statement on this site may be construed as a guarantee of a particular outcome, of recovery or of success. Medical interventions carry risk by their nature; the outcome of no surgical or medical procedure can be promised with certainty in advance. Under Turkish law the physician’s obligation is, as a rule, not an undertaking as to result but a duty to exercise due care.
6. Currency and Accuracy of the Content
The content of this site was prepared having regard to the scientific literature and clinical practice current at the date of writing. Medical science, however, advances continually, and approaches to diagnosis and treatment may change over time. 7. Images and Video
The anatomical drawings, models, operative images and similar visual material on this site are illustrative and representative only. They do not represent the condition of any particular patient, the outcome to be expected, or the result of treatment. Where images of patients are used, the express consent of the persons concerned has been obtained and identifying information has been concealed.
8. Patient Reviews
No patient reviews, accounts of experience, or before-and-after comparisons are published on this site. The site carries only summary figures drawn from verified reviews on DoktorTakvimi, an independent third-party platform, together with a link to that platform.
Those reviews are subject to the platform’s own moderation and verification procedures; Assoc. Prof. Oğuz Baran exercises no intervention or control over their content. The link does not imply any endorsement of that platform.
9. Concerning the Submission of Imaging Studies
The form that allows imaging studies and reports to be sent through the site is an administrative facility offered in order to simplify the process of preliminary assessment. Review of the documents submitted through it:
- does not amount to remote diagnosis or to the planning of treatment;
- does not replace an examination;
- does not constitute an undertaking as to an appointment, acceptance or treatment;
- carries no guarantee that a reply will be given within any particular period.
Responsibility for the completeness, legibility and accuracy of the documents submitted rests with the sender. Assoc. Prof. Oğuz Baran cannot be held responsible for any consequence arising from an assessment based on incomplete or inaccurate information.
10. Protection of Personal Data
